Chiropractic Techniques in Calgary
NW Chiropractic and Massage offers a variety of chiropractic techniques that are often matched to the condition or injury of our patients. Depending on the age and presentation of the patient, these techniques may be used in combination.
What we do Different: We offers you a take home booklet outlining the diagnosis, explanation of how we arrived at your diagnosis and a treatment plan to help you recover.
Types of Chiropractic Techniques:
Manual Adjustments
Manual adjustments are one of the most popular adjusting techniques used by chiropractors. We utilize a hands on thrust technique that stretches the joint capsule to restore normal function of the joint. When we deliver this type of adjustment it often results in a popping sound.
Active Release
Active Rlease Techniques locates and breaks down scar tissue and adhesion that are caused by injury to soft tissue. Acute and overuse injuries result in the body trying to stabilize the area by laying down scar tissue. As a result, this scar tissue creates a weaker shorter tissue increasing tension on tendons and nerves. This scar tissue can form in muscles, tendons and ligaments. We utilize this technique by hands on stretch and release of soft tissues. Learn More at the Active Release website.
Activator Adjustments
Activator technique is a gentle form of chiropractic adjustment. In contrast to manual adjustments, the activator delivers a very specific small thrust to help increase the joints range of motion. We use this technique on our older and younger patients and on smaller joints of the body. Learn More at the Activator website.
Graston Therapy
Graston Technique or therapy is a unique technique that uses stainless steel instruments to locate and treat scar tissue and adhesion. As a result, this treatment is used on muscle, ligament and tendon injuries. Similarly to Active Release, this aids in quicker rehabilitation when the goal is restoring range of motion and eliminating pain. Learn More at the Graston Technique website.
Above all we match our treatments to our patients, their condition or injury and what they want to accomplish. If you have questions call us to discuss which chiropractic technique may be best for you.
