Avocados are one of my favorite foods!

This super food is loaded with health benefits:

  • Reduces heart disease risk – Studies have shown that eating the monounsaturated (healthier) fat that is high in avocado is a better alternative than reducing total fat intake all together.
  • Lowers cholesterol – Plant sterols which are high in avocado have shown to lower cholesterol.
  • Protects your unborn baby – One cup of avocado has about a 1/4 of your recommended folate intake, a vitamin which cuts the rate of birth defects.

This super food does have one health risk:

A Potential Allergic Reaction:

  • Those that are allergic to latex have a higher probability to have an allergic reaction to avocado. This reaction is known as latex-fruit syndrome and can cause abdominal pain, and vomiting and could be life-threatening.

Did you know: Avocados are a fruit that contain 60% more potassium than bananas!
